Tryouts for a Play: Dead Man Walking

There will be an open tryout for the award winning play Dead Man Walking. Tryouts will begin from February 4-6 and call backs on the 14th at the Academic Village in room D190. Bring a recent snap shot or headshot if you have one.

Dead Man Walking is a play about the spiritual relationship between Sister Helen Prejean and a justly convited rober, rapist and murderer. Sister Helen first tries to save his life and when thats fails, his humanity.

Honoring African American History Month

In honoring of African American History Month the First Year experience Program invites the entire Old Westbury community to participate in The National African American Read-In.  The event will take place on Monday february 4,2008 at the Duane Jones Recital Hall, Capus Center. It begins at 10:30am - 4:30pm.  To participate please sign up at the first year experince.

The Crisis of African-American Male Unemployment

U.S. Senator Charles Schumer will be speaking on "The Crisis of African-American Male Unemployment" in the Old Westbury Student Union multi-purpose room on February 20, 2008 at 10:30am.

The event is sponsored by the Urban League of Long Island and SUNY Old Westbury.

Senator Schumer has served in congress for over two decades.  The economy has been one of his top priorities. Senator Schumer has also fought diligently against terrorism and for the protection of our country's borders.

Come and listen to Senator Schumer address "The Crisis of African American Male Unemployment" at 10:30 am in the Student Union multi-purpose room.

Catalyst Spotlight Radio

Catalyst Spotlight Radio debuted on Old Westbury Web Radio on Thursday, January 24.     Spotlight Radio is a news and interview show hosted by Erik Badia.   The first show featured an exclusive interview with the former S.G.A President Maziely Crisostomo who has left Old Westbury for Hunter College in the middle of her term of office.  Erik Badia also interviewed the brand new Dean of Students Floyd Ewing who has just finished his first month on campus.

Catalyst Spotlight Radio will air live, every Thursday from 6:30 to 7pm on Old Westbury Web Radio.

OWWR New Spring Schedule!

OWWR: Old Westbury Web Radio

Program Director Edmond Easton and the student management of OWWR have doubled the number of live shows in one semester. 

There are now 40 live shows on the air each and every week.  That's 12 new shows since Christmas and 20 more shows since the beginning of the fall semester.   

OWWR is looking for students to help manage the station and to fill out the remaining time slots on the schedule.
