Mike
Nizza, author of an article in the NY times, quoted Bush:
“One unmistakable
legacy of Vietnam is that the price of America’s withdrawal was paid by
millions of innocent citizens whose agonies would add to our vocabulary new
terms like “boat people,” “re-education camps,” and “killing fields””.
This
shows the point of view of Bush and his supporters. The reality of the current
situation is a mirrored image of Vietnam: withdrawing too fast isn’t the best
solution at this point. This also can be another tool that the presidential
administration can use to carry out their foreign policy goals.
