Although the Vietnam War has been over for almost 40 years, people still are being effected by it. Vietnam vets are often seen as crazy, angry and disillusioned rather than called heroes. Post-traumatic stress disorder can be a result of any war if a person is mentally unstable.
O'Hara is a former Vietnam vet who speaks against the Vietnam veterans. He was in the National Guard and was not happy while serving in the war. He met people who were intellectually inferior and took pleasure in childish acts. He even associated himself with soldiers that would take pictures of dead enemies.
O'Hara is now involved with a local newspaper. He believes that a war not only effects a country, but an individuals well being. That is the consequence of post-traumatic stress.
