Radio Station for Peace

Radio Al-Salam 95.5 is a new broadcast radio station located in the Middle East. It began it's first broadcast Sunday, April 5th. In relation to the name Al-Salam, the purpose of the new radio station is to spread the message of peace and coexistence throughout the communities. Gollnisch, a French Catholic preist owns an organization called L'Oevvred' Orient that helps Christians in the Middle East.

According to www.yourmiddleeast.com, Govnisch and his organization backs the Al-Salam radio station. He is also part of the delegation of several French groups that support the broadcasting.

"As its name suggests, it is a radio station for peace, that also gives practical help in the daily lives of all the displaced," Gollnisch said.

The new station also caters to the refugees of Northern Iraq and helps them throughout their daily lives. An estimated 2.5 million people have been displaced by the conflict of IS since 2014.

Cosmo To The Middle East!

Last year the big name U.S magazine Cosmopolitan began to break grounds into the Middle East. The Magazine is published by the Hearst Magazines and currently have 61 international editions appearing in 32 languages and 100 countries.

David Carr of the New York Times reported:

"Now Hearst is heading into a more daunting frontier with Cosmopolitan Middle East, which will be published in partnership with ITP Consumer Publishing, a Middle Eastern consumer and business magazine publisher."

"The Middle East has one of the youngest populations in the world so introducing a local edition of the world’s best-selling magazine for young women seems an obvious decision. Cosmopolitan is a colossal brand and we are looking forward to launching and developing it in this region"

This seems like a business move for Hearst Magazine for a number of reasons. First because Hearst Magazine have had a prior relationship with ITP Consumer Publishing. Secondly it is a new untapped place for Cosmopolitan to publish. Finally the Middle East does have one of the largest young people population which is perfect for the magazine's age range. The interesting part would be how the magazine with change to catch the attention of the readers and the whether or not it will be accepted into the country thanks to Cosmopolitan's American Heritage.
