Feminism has really grown in strength. In the past, women were able to fight for their rights through protests and boycotts. However, feminists are turning to Instagram to express themselves for the future of feminism.
Instagram is the go-to platform to post symbolic pictures or quotes of female empowerment. More so, celebrities are flooding their Instagram pages with positivity and determination for the world of feminism. They're bringing awareness to gender issues that still exist in our society today. Here are the three celebs that fight for women of the future:
1) Emmy Rossum from Showtime's television program called Shameless is a known feminist. She is a popular, well-liked actress as well as a fighter for women's rights. Her Instagram page is flooded with empowering words and links to short films on sexual harassment. According to a Vogue article, Emmy fought for equal pay for her role on the show. Her male counterpart had been paid more than her which was unfair being they were equally as popular and important to the aesthetic of the TV show. She later posted a photo to encourage women who follow her to fight for equality as well.

2) Lena Dunham, from the HBO hit show called Girls is yet another feminist titan. Throughout her page, one can find positivity on the subject of feminism. She posts pictures of proud and successful women to bring confidence to the girls who follow her. She is known for pushing the Envelope with her raw sense of humor and relatable banter. She pushes away from the typical body image that society says women should have. She is "body positive" and expresses this in many of her Instagram photos.

3) Amy Schumer is a well known comic and feminist. She not only brings feminism into her comedy specials, but to her Instagram page as well. She persuades and encourages women to fight for equal rights. Amy has already broken barriers with her career. She is a successful female comedian which makes her voice important to the girls listening. She sheds light on important women's issues while contributing a humorous touch.
She posted a picture back in 2016 of a magazine that she was featured in called Glamour's plus-centric issue. The issue had many well known plus size celebrity women discussing body image and how they find beauty in themselves no matter what size they wear. According to a Bustle article about Amy, Gina Tonic writes, "Amy Schumer is often regarded as a feminist icon for speaking honestly about female experiences, in particular her frank discussions of sexuality and body image".
Schumer displays the negativity she gets for being a liberal woman as well as the first female comic to sell out an arena. This is a way of expressing her power and determinism as a woman despite the backlash she receives. Amy is an example of a positive influence for women and young girls who follow her on Instagram.
