Actors have been receiving a lot of flack for using Twitter as a political platform. Those with a large following are using it to their advantage to influence political action. On the opposing side, Twitter has sparked controversy over whether or not famous people should be free to express their concerns. Regardless, there are celebrities out there who choose to ignore the backlash, and continue to voice their opinion. Take "Charmed" actress Alyssa Milano for example:
Those that tell me not to tweet politics because I'm an uninformed celebrity are the same people that voted for... an uninformed celebrity.

Beside Alyssa Milano, is TV actor and former opera singer Emmy Rossem. Famous for her role as Fiona on Showtime's "Shameless," Rossem is using hashtags and direct links to companies to show her form of online resistance.
No thanks, @UnderArmour. Throwing it all out. #whyIresist

Fellow Twitter users are using the same tactics to oppose celebrity resistance.
@tylerwshippy @emmyrossum @amputron B/C typically they don't have enough knowledge(the same as the general public) and too much influence.

The point they are trying to make is that these celebrities are out of touch with reality. Take conservative TV personality Tomi Lahren for example. To quote her tweet after Meryl Streep's speech at the Golden Globes,
"These Hollywood elites wouldn't know average, every day hard-working Americans if we bit them in the ass. #GoldenGlobes"
Excuse her lack of censorship. Tomi is a very busy woman who has made a career out of speaking in front of a camera. The irony in her statement has influenced tweeters to stand up to her directly on Twitter.
You talk on TV for a living. https://t.co/uIRfgVa3Yd

Celebrities against celebrities is an ongoing battle. In an interview, Mark Wahlberg mentions that he believes celebrities are doing more harm than good when they speak about politics. In his view, they may not fully understand the issues at hand, and may be using their lack of knowledge to negatively influence their fans.
A CNN article pointed out that "those stars who lean left will be even more prominent among politically-minded celebrities as they become voices of opposition to the new Trump administration -- a trend already witnessed in the run-up to the inauguration."
