Unfortunately, on May 3, 2016 an ban was put into affect. According to Aljazeera America "A Brazilian judge has ordered mobile-phone carriers to block access to WhatsApp for 72 hours throughout the country, the second such move against the messaging application in five months". This decision was made on Monday and is reported to be " the second time since mid-December that WhatsApp has been the target of a blocking order". This has affected many users. Nothing has been hear as of yet if the ban was lifted.
