Social media's influence on the way fanatics now see sports today doesn't compare to it years ago. On the palm of your hand you have to power to change and create different options that benefit you to stay updated. Social media changed the playing field for many television and news outlets.
Fans are looking for more than just box scores and stats, they want to see highlights and reactions. the only way to access that are through either social media accounts or downloading applications.
Molly Jolly, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim senior vice president of finance and administration said she is excited about the future of sports and their interaction in a new media landscape.
“I see it as a way to grow the leagues and sports domestically and internationally,” she said. “We’re exploring digital ticketing and how we can interact with individuals attending games so their experience is improved. We can improve customer service and make fans feel part of the organization. I see technology and social media as an excellent way of doing that.”
Fans today tend to be too busy to sit down and watch a game on television, so they resort to using social media and applications to help alert them throughout the game.

The numbers don't lie, Athletes have thousands of followers and that is just on twitter, imagine the others who follow them o Facebook and Instagram. The internet was never about wanting to better the experience for sporting fans.
It was used as just a chat forum on AOL and to put yourself into the public's eye on Myspcae. All that has changed becoming so much more for all people to use especially now that technology id changing so are the process and the way we see things.
