With smartphones taking over, a video camera is only a click away. These days, everything is being recorded. Concerts, shows, animals, babies and even near death experiences are all being recorded and posted online. Have we gone too far with recording every moment of our lives?

Scott Welch is just one of the latest people to have one of their videos gone viral. It all happened on September 18th on JetBlue flight 1416 from California to Texas. With the sound of a pop, smoke filled the air, and that's when Welch decided to record what was happening. With the oxygen mask on, he recorded every moment of what he later found out was the blowing of the engine. The plane landed, and everything turned out fine, but the reason it made headlines was all because of the viral video and selfie.
The question is, why do people feel the need to document everything in their life? Do people think that if others don't see it, they won't believe them? It's a strange phenomenon that everything we do nowadays is being recorded, and ends up on the internet.
If people are too busy recording, how can they appreciate the moment? People are distracted by their phones to realize what is going on around them.
“I’ve had the experience when I go out and perform in front of people where all I see is a sea of iPads,” Conan O’Brien said with exasperation. “You can’t even see their faces.” This goes to prove that in 2014, everyone is recording what's going on and are missing out on what's in front of them.
With the rise of Youtube, viral videos, online celebrities, it's no doubt that everyone wants to get a piece of their 15 minutes of fame. People will do anything to capture the most outrageous moments and share it with the world. According to Forbes, in order to make your video go viral, it has to be short, sweet and to the point. Although it's not easy to make your video go viral, it definitely doesn't take much skill. Most of the time viral videos were never meant to be seen by anybody, by somehow someway they end up all over the internet.
Is this now the world we live in? Where every move is being recorded, you may soon find yourself on Youtube without even knowing it.
