Recently, Apple has had a software update available for iPhone users, iOS 8. It is said, that the privacy settings that come with this new are so high tech that the police cannot even get into your phone. According to Brian X. Chen:
the company said all this information was under the protection of a customer’s pass code, the four-digit number used to log in to the device. In the past, Apple was able to extract certain types of information from devices, even when they were locked with a pass code, in response to a valid search warrant.
This new iOS 8 software protects anything stored on a device, but one aspect still remains, anything you save in iCloud is subject to apple sharing with the government if requested. The pass code cannot be bypassed by any mean with this new software, so if you really like your privacy and you have an iPhone then updating is definitely something one should consider.
Christopher Soghoian, a principal technologist for the American Civil Liberties Union stated:
“Apple’s new privacy policy reflected the revelations of the government surveillance programs revealed in documents leaked by Edward J. Snowden. The public has said they want companies to put their privacy first, and Apple has listened.”
Apple is very advanced when it comes to their technology compared to other phones, so it is no surprise that they have this new software that makes it nearly impossible for peoples privacy to be invaded.
