Fresh off the Techcrunch Disrupt stage is the new college student friendly application called Studyroom . The nature of this app is to be exactly what its name imply, a study room . The college student friendly application will serve as an online study room that allows "students to learn from each other. It lets students learn by having them help these students better understand the material – not all that differently from how an “offline” study group would work'', said Sarah Perez an TechCrunch official.
Co-founder Emerson Malca, said the idea first came to him when his friend came to him asking for help on her physics homework. He asked her why couldn't you ask on of her classmates for help she said she only had phone numbers for two , one did not reply and the other didn’t know oh to do the problem. Malca exclaimed, “For us it was shocking to see that the most social, most connected generation ever couldn’t get in touch with the people they see everyday in class". Studyroom will welcome any and all students to sign up and join for free, with only by verifying student College email. After signing up students can then add to their school page and unlock the option for schools to then join.
Currently, Studyroom has only introduced itself to a couple of schools and has reached over 40,000 students.
Now I have a question for you, with this new buzzing app circulating , "Do you think SUNY College at Old Westbury will able to integrated into this movement?". Well, with all the renovations and re-facing of Old Westbury , one would think that this school would run, skip and jump online to get and be a part of this new media tool that can helps students succeed.
The experiment begins with us. Us, literally. This course, this class, right now. I signed up, for Studyroom in order to appropriately be well educated on the material introduced. So, I sent a email invitation to you, my fellow comrade! So know to really test the hype about this tool of media and find out if this application could really reach Old Westbury,
