Do you wish the waitress wasn't coming over every three minutes to see if your order is ready? Do you love smart phones and tablets? You might be in luck in the near future at your local restaurant.
A Coffee House in Tuscon, Arizona has just introduced a table (yes a table) that can change restaurants forever. "Just Desserts" is introducing these tables created by software engineer Dan Collins. Dan Collins states what this smart table is capable of in Aalia Shaheed's article on Fox News...
"You name it, we have it. Every kind of interaction game you can think of," said Collins. "There's no other place that I know of that this kind of technology exists in a restaurant environment."
These smart tables also plan on changing the way you order your meals. They want it to be so you can order from the menu at your table without having to tell anyone. It would cut down on costs for restaurants paying waitresses. It would also most likely eliminate having to tip for costumers also.
They call this the new era of smart dining, and people have been preparing for this since as early as 2007. In an article by Rajat Suri on TechCrunch's website he talks about how restaurants have been around since civilizations existed. With smart technology like iPhones it changed the restaurants business forever. Even though the iPhone was invented in 2007 they are really embracing the "New Era" now.
The new era of eating at a restaurant will be a very different one being able to order from your table and use your iPhones to pay. Remember when tables were just made out of wood?
