Academy Award winning actress Lupita Nyong'o just keeps winning! She is now the new face of the cosmetic brand LANCÔME. According, to BBC the Kenyan native is Lancôme's very first black ambassador and it is her first major endorsement. "Unique Vision" is the title of the line she will be advertising, her face is expected to seen all over the place starting this summer. While Lupita as well as many others are nothing short of excited about her new position there are some people who are against this new position the star has taken on.
According to Daily Times Nigeria a Nigerian singer is calling N'yongo out about her affiliation with Lancôme stating that they sell skin bleaching cream. The singer took to twitter in effort to discredit Lupita's decision and mark her as a hypocrite since as we have seen Lupita is against women trying to become lighter. Lupita has not shown to be an advocate for skin bleaching but does this singer have a point? Is Lupita wrong for working alongside a company that promotes ideals that she has always claimed to be against? "I am particularly proud to represent its unique vision for women and the idea that beauty should not be dictated, but should instead be an expression of a woman's freedom to be herself." said Lupita. It seems that her intentions are still genuine and she wants to show those who are looking up to her a new, "unique" way.
