This week, the news came out that Blockbuster Video would be closing its final 300 stores by January of next year.
Blockbuster once dominated the scene with thousands and thousands of stores. However, over the years with technological advancements like Netflix Blockbuster just wasn't able to keep up. Although most locations will be closing, there will still be around 50 locations left. This is the case because, according to the New York Times, they are owned by third party franchisees and not Dish Network.
Although the stores are closing, the streaming service "Blockbuster @ Home" will still operate.
