Quite often in the United States, we take our liberties for granted. For example, Freedom of Speech and Freedom of the Press. Under different types of governments such as a dictatorship, these rights do not exist, according to Zambian dictator Michael Sata.
According to an article on ZambianWatchDog, Chanda Chimba has directed a documentary which portrays Sata in a negative light. Chimba will be arrested and taken into police custody after his questioning. Global Voices Online states,
"Chimba is charged with unlawful printing and publication and for being in “'possession of property suspected of being proceeds from a crime.'”
Chimba has written a letter to the editor of the ZambianWatchDog expressing his concerns for his own life and the life of his family after the media attention his story has received. He says, "I have no doubt they are hell bent on taking me out, they are up to killing me. That is how I think they have been instructed to silence me." Chimba believes that the government is planning to assassinate him. What kind of message would an act so violent send to the Zambian public?
