According to the Los Angeles Times, microsoft released an interesting statement about Xbox. Microsoft stated that entertainment usage on an Xbox is not mostly for gaming online but, for movies and shows. Even when Xbox live users are now spending thirty percent more time than they did last year. To be specific, that is eighty four more hours of sitting in front of the Xbox.
On Tuesday, the Washington Post stated Microsoft has added HBO Go, Xfinity, Comcast and MLB.TV to Xbox's video services and most definitely expects to rise in number. All of the shows that are available on HBO will be available on the Xbox for those who use the app. MLB.TV will allow users to pause and rewind actual games.
In MediaPost, it states that, all of these new updates on Xbox will be available for the Kinect but will need to be subscribed to. "HBO Go is arguably the best example of what the industry calls "Over the top" entertainment programming" Forbes contributor Michael Humphrey states. He also says, "Rather than toying with shows being available on networks like Hulu, Netflix and On Demand, the cable channel lays all of its programming out.
It's ironic because a system that was once known for playing Halo and Call of Duty, is now being used for movies, music, and videos. Over the past few years, Microsoft has added applications to the 360 including Netflix, ESPN, Hulu, Vudu, and YouTube. After adding all of these new apps, the total number will be thirty six.
