Here we are again, talking about Baidu. Baidu is a word that I had never heard of before January of this year, and after February I figured I would never speak about it again. Fast forward eight months and here we are, talking about it one more time. For this blog post, I am going to give you a brief history of Baidu.
To start, Baidu is the number one search engine in China that internet users can access to search for websites, audio files, and images. Baidu has been around since 2000, and according to the websites official FAQ, Baidu's mission is to provide the best way for people to find information on-line. In other words, Baidu is to China what Google is to the United States, with one big difference.
You see the major difference between Baidu and Google within China is that the Chinese government is able to control the content that the users of Baidu have access to.
