Korea has come a long way due to technology and they are currently using technology to expand their economy. In the past South Korea was considered one of the poorest countries in the world and now they are considered one of the wealthiest. Some of the major technology companies in Korea are Samsung, Nokia and LG.
According to Brian O'Connell, "South Korea Uses Technology To Grow (Increasingly Green) Economy"on Daniweb, Koreans are intense new media users:
-- "Over 90% of Korean households have Internet access and more than 30% have broadband, both figures among the world's highest.
-- Over 80% of Korean households have mobile phones, with local giants Samsung and LG dominating the industry, thanks to some high barriers to foreign competition.
-- South Koreahas 17.8% of the world's semiconductor capacity and almost 50% of DRAM market share, led by Samsung and Hynix."
Korea currently has the highest rate of broadband Internet penetration in the world. The major search engines used in Korea is Naver and the most popular social network used is Cyworldonline. Koreans Internet experience is different from an Americans Internet experience. One significant difference is that on most large interest sites in Korea you have to give your full name in order to be allowed to participate.
A South Korean company have created a coin-size lazer video projector module. This lazer video projector can fit in any portable device for example digital cameras and cell phones. This coin-sized projector allows you to present videos and photos on any wall. Korea is also heading in the direction of a credit-cardless society. Since we already have television, video camera, games, and the internet all on our phones its not that big a stretch to add our credit cards. This would allow users to pay phone bills, taxes, shopping expenses, transportation fees and even hospital bills all with there mobile phone.
