Google serves the People's Republic of China as a transnational search engine. Google is by far the most popular and the largest search engine in the world of search engines. When Google launched in China in 2006, serving the Peoples Republic of China with google.cn raised Google supported languages to fifteen. Although, the Chinese market is an oyster for Google, China's multi-national internet market has media restrictions. These restrictions call for Google to be frugal. The Peoples Republic of China analyses te role of Google as a mass media entity. Hence, as a mass media outlet Google's search query results may encorage or impede social protest movements and influence political behavior. Thus to protect national security and "safe guard" civil liberties the People's Republic of China ask that Google remove sensitive materials for search query results pertaining to war and social movements.
